This post to explain about installation, not configuration cacti. Configuration cacti immediately will be posted.

To install Cacti in ubuntu 12.04, please follow step by step like below:

1. Install SNMP Service

 $ sudo apt-get install snmpd

2. Configuration

$ sudo mv /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf.org


3.  Create new file: /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf:

$ nano /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf

rocommunity public
syslocation "PANBAR" 
syscontact anggi@gmail.com 

4.  Edit: /etc/default/snmpd:
before:
# snmpd options (use syslog, close stdin/out/err). 
SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid 127.0.0.1' 

 after:
# snmpd options (use syslog, close stdin/out/err). 
#SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid 127.0.0.1'
SNMPDOPTS='-Lsd -Lf /dev/null -u snmp -I -smux -p /var/run/snmpd.pid -c /etc/snmp/snmpd.conf' 

 5.  Restart Services 

$ /etc/init.d/snmpd restart

6.  Install SNMP

$ sudo apt-get install snmp 


 7.  For Try
$ snmpwalk -v 1 -c public -O e 127.0.0.1

Finally, try to access your cacti with http://localhost/cacti. And than you can configuration  in there.
